This past winter I became pen-pals with someone for the first time in, well, probably since grade school. My pen-pal lives clear across the US in Cali. We have became such good friends and wish we were closer, but we arent. Its so exciting to go to your mailbox and see something in there from her. The fact that sometime took the time to buy you a card or gift and send it to you signed is a really big deal to me. Today everyone is in a hurry, looking for the quickest way to communicate. Im guilty myself, but cherish the times when Im not scurrying around trying to do 10 things at once. Once you get that envelope in the mail, you slow down, take time and cherish the moment...its nice and I love that time. I tend to drop EVERYTHING Im doing when I get an envelope from her, its so exciting. Its also amazing to see how much alike we all are, Im in the country, shes in the city, she has children, I dont...the list goes on and on. Yet, through it all we are so much the same. Our interests are the same despite the differences. I feel as though I have found a BF in someone whom Ive never met. Strange, but true. She sent a little book about friendship that I recieved this past weekend and some tea of coarse (we always send each other tea and sip it while chatting online or relaxing). The book is full of poems and quotes about friends. Thought I would share a few.
A friend is someone who reaches for your hand but touches your heart. Kathleen Grove
One of the most wonderful qualities of true friendship is to understand and be understood.
Beautiful friendship,
by sun and wind;
deurable from the
daily dust of life.
Friendship is the golden thread that ties the hearts of all the world.
Do you have a pen-pal? If not, you dont know what your missing!
That is really special. I have met online friends that I feel the same way about. "If only we were closer". I agree, getting handwritten letters is so such a special treat.... it can sure make your day.
